Mark Twains's is the quote that I have used many times or at least alluded to. So many times fear and courage are common themes in literature, and since kids are expected to make choices everyday and some against their peer group, fear and courage are wonderful themes to explore.

Wilson and Twain...my favorites here.  Courage is knowing that fear exists...and, although we can push through and beyond it, fear will still be there.  (As Roosevelt tried to get across to us, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself" which, again, states that fear really does exist but not to fear it.  Instead, be courageous against, let courage face it and it will be as if fear is being denied a stronghold.)

Another great post!  You inspire us to think!  Thank you.

Harold Wilson:  Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you are scared to death.  Many times I have had to be courageous when inside I was shaking in my boots.
