May 14, 2006, is Mother’s Day. Take time on this special day to honor your mother, as well as teaching your children to honor their mother. Whether the mother in your life is one that works outside of the home, or is a stay-at-home mother, she is deserving of a special celebration on this day.
Oftentimes, we fail to express our love to our mothers and we take them for granted. Therefore, this is a day that is established specifically for that purpose. There are many low-cost activities that a child can do with their mother. Here are just a few examples.
Go to the dollar store and purchase a tray that can be used to give your child’s mother breakfast in bed. Help your child make some toast with jelly and a cup of juice, as well as toast and juice for themselves. Both mother and child will cherish this special time together.
Another idea is to purchase some inexpensive craft supplies and allow your child to create something for their mother. Let your child make the decision on what it is they will make for her. On the evening of Mother’s Day, cook a special meal with your child and have dinner as a family. As you all sit at the dinner table, each of you take turns saying something endearing to the mother in your life. You can also name one thing that you are most thankful of, in regards to her impact on your life.
Lastly, pamper the mother in your life. You and the children do the housecleaning and chores for the day while spoiling her. Treat her to a day just for her. Allow her to call the shots for the whole day. Give her the remote to the television, give her gift certificates that are homemade, have her sit down on the couch and prop her feet up while you surprise her with goodies and chocolate delicacies.
